Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of Pythora Academy (“Pythora”, “we”, “us”), including our website, online tutoring sessions, and related services. By creating an account, booking a session, or submitting an enquiry, you agree to these Terms.

1. Who we are

Pythora Academy is an online tutoring service operating in Queensland, Australia. Tutors are independent contractors with their own ABN. Sessions run online via Google Meet.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 to create a parent account. Students under 18 may use the service only with a parent or guardian’s account and consent. We may decline service or terminate accounts at our discretion.

3. Sessions and matching

We match each student with a tutor based on subject, year level, and personality. The first session is a free trial. If the match is not right, we will re-match at no cost. Booked sessions are confirmed at the time of booking.

4. Payment, cancellation and refunds

There is no per-session payment. Sessions are billed together once a week, every Monday in arrears, via Stripe to the card saved on your account. You receive an itemised email before any charge. The rate per session is shown on your account. Sessions cancelled within 12 hours of the scheduled start time are charged at 35% of the session fee. Trial sessions are free.

5. Conduct

You agree to attend sessions on time, treat tutors and staff respectfully, and not record or redistribute session content without consent. We reserve the right to terminate accounts where conduct breaches these Terms.

6. Tutors are independent contractors

Tutors hold their own ABN and Queensland Blue Card, set their own tax affairs, and provide services in their own capacity.

7. Intellectual property and uploads

All content on this website, including session summaries, materials and our brand, is owned by Pythora or licensed to us. You may use materials provided to your student for personal study only. Work a student uploads remains the student’s own; by uploading it you grant us a limited licence to store and process it to provide the service. See our Copyright & Acceptable Use policy.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pythora is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these Terms excludes any non-excludable consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law.

9. Privacy

Your personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or via a notice on the website.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Queensland.
