Pythora Academy was founded on one simple belief: your child deserves to learn from someone who genuinely knows the subject inside and out. Every tutor we accept is a high-achieving university student, hand-picked through a rigorous selection process.
Our story
We keep our standards high so your child's results can be too.
Most tutoring agencies fill spots with anyone who is willing to show up. We built Pythora to do the opposite. We accept fewer than 1 in 10 tutors who apply, and every tutor on our platform has recently completed the exact subjects they teach.
That matters because Queensland's QCAA curriculum changes. A tutor who studied Specialist Maths five years ago does not know the current syllabus the same way a student who finished it last year does. We match your child with someone who is genuinely on top of the content.
After every session, you receive a clear summary covering what was taught, what your child found difficult and what to focus on next. You stay informed without having to interrogate your teenager every Sunday night.

What we look for in a tutor
Strong ATAR results
We look at academic records, not just what someone says about themselves. Results in the specific subjects they want to teach matter most.
Queensland Blue Card
Every tutor holds a current Blue Card, issued by the Queensland Government. This is mandatory and non-negotiable.
ABN registered
Tutors operate as professional contractors with their own ABN. This keeps payments clean and straightforward for everyone.
Passed our interview
We interview every applicant. We are looking for people who can explain things clearly, not just people who know the content.
Subject-specific knowledge
Tutors only teach subjects they have recently completed and scored well in. No generalists, no guessing.
Ongoing accountability
Session summaries go directly to parents after every lesson. If the quality drops, we know about it quickly.
